Behbood Savings Certificates were introduced in 2003 by the government to provide stable monthly income for widows and senior citizens. Over the years, the scheme has been expanded to include persons with disabilities and minors under guardianship. Owing to these benefits, the certificates remain one of the most preferred investment options for the targeted segments.
The certificates are available in denominations ranging from Rs5,000 to Rs1,000,000. Under current regulations, individual investors can invest up to Rs7.5 million, while joint investors can invest up to Rs15 million, with a fixed tenure of 10 years.
At the current profit rate, an investment of Rs100,000 generates a monthly return of Rs1,060. Investors placing Rs2 million in BSCs will receive a monthly profit of Rs21,200. The scheme provides a secure and predictable income stream for eligible investors, making it particularly appealing amid fluctuating market conditions.
