
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to begin work on providing tax relief to the salaried class, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial said on Friday.
Speaking at a Pakistan Business Council seminar, the FBR chairman said the prime minister has also instructed a reduction in the super tax imposed on large companies. He added that government-level consultations on this matter have already begun.

Langrial noted that tax rates will decrease as the number of taxpayers increases in the country. He emphasised that broadening the tax base is essential for long-term economic stability.
He further stated that the federal government is prepared to gradually reduce the super tax on major companies and businesses in the coming phases, with the aim of eventually eliminating it completely.
