CM Maryam orders crackdown on Punjab land mafia

Published on: November 27, 2025 5:10 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz issued a strict warning to land grabbers, stating that those occupying properties belonging to widows and vulnerable citizens will face decisive action. Chairing a meeting in Lahore, she directed authorities to resolve all land-grabbing cases without delay and ensure justice for affected families across the province.

She further ordered daily monitoring of these cases to track progress and identify districts lagging behind in compliance. Moreover, CM Maryam instructed officials to submit detailed reports to her every day so she could personally review developments. She also emphasized complete enforcement of the 2025 Ordinance designed to protect citizens from land mafia activities.

Expressing dissatisfaction over slow progress in districts such as Gujrat, Layyah and Hafizabad, the chief minister demanded immediate improvement. Additionally, the meeting decided that public awareness announcements would be made through mosque loudspeakers. This effort aims to inform residents about government actions and encourage people to report land-grabbing attempts.

CM Maryam also directed assistant commissioners at tehsil levels to establish complaint mechanisms for victims. During the briefing, officials reported that 2,919 complaints had been received during the last three weeks from across Punjab. The data highlighted the scale of the issue and reinforced the need for rapid intervention.

She reiterated that protecting citizens’ property rights remains a top provincial priority.
