LAHORE: A three-year-old girl, Jannat, safely underwent a complex endoscopic procedure at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) to remove a hairpin she had accidentally swallowed, hospital officials said. The delicate operation, which carried the risk of internal injury due to her young age, was successfully performed by Dr Hooria Rehman.

The LGH spokesperson explained that the anesthesia team had to exercise extreme caution, given the patient’s age and the nature of the procedure. They worked under the guidance of Prof Shahid, Prof Faryad Hussain, and Dr Hassan Suleman, ensuring the child’s safety throughout the surgery.

Initial assessments revealed that the hairpin posed a serious risk of internal damage if not removed promptly. The medical team decided to perform endoscopy, avoiding more invasive surgical methods, which helped reduce potential complications and ensured a quicker recovery for the child.

The procedure was carried out without incident, and the child’s condition has been reported as stable. Hospital officials praised the coordination between the doctors and anesthesia team, emphasizing the importance of timely intervention in such emergencies involving young children.

Louisiana State Police said the infant, just 3 months old, was found safe after being reported missing around 3:18 p.m. Saturday.https://t.co/huyaGYzhDA pic.twitter.com/7E125Q1hHK
