The attack occurred in the Saddar area, one of the city’s busiest sectors, raising immediate security concerns.
Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Dr Mian Saeed said three suicide bombers attempted to enter the FC compound. “One attacker detonated himself at the main gate, while two others tried to breach the premises,” he stated. Terrorist incidents have surged in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the Afghan Taliban’s rise to power in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul and the international community to address terrorist safe havens across the border. Recent talks mediated by Qatar and Turkey ended without a breakthrough, as Pakistan described the Taliban’s position as unrealistic.
