
US President Donald Trump called for six Democratic lawmakers to face jail time after they appeared in a video urging military officers to refuse illegal orders, labeling their actions as “sedition at the highest level.”
Trump tweeted on Saturday night that the lawmakers “should be in jail right now” and condemned their video as a direct threat to national stability, claiming there was no acceptable interpretation of their message.

The video, posted Friday on social media, featured Arizona’s Mark Kelly, Michigan’s Elissa Slotkin, Colorado’s Jason Crow, Pennsylvania’s Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan, and New Hampshire’s Maggie Goodlander, all of whom have served in military or intelligence roles.
Trump’s comments followed his accusation on Friday that the lawmakers’ actions were “seditious behaviour, punishable by death,” intensifying his ongoing campaign rhetoric against Democrats and drawing immediate condemnation from the party.

Democrats slammed the president’s remarks as “absolutely vile,” warning that such threats undermine public trust and jeopardize the safety of those who have served the country in uniform and intelligence positions.
The controversy comes amid Trump’s recent military actions, including deploying the National Guard to multiple US cities and ordering strikes on alleged drug-smuggling vessels abroad, actions that critics argue may have violated legal authority.
