American actress and singer Amanda Seyfried is ready to expand the Mamma Mia universe — and she already has a dream lineup in mind. The Oscar-nominated star recently revealed that she wants her The Housemaid co-star Sydney Sweeney to join the cast of the potential third film, along with pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Governors Awards, Seyfried said she believes Mamma Mia 3 is essentially a “done deal.” While no official confirmation has been made, producer Judy Craymer previously shared that a script for the third installment already exists.

Reflecting on the story, Seyfried said she imagines the new film returning to the present-day life of her character, Sophie. She revealed she would love to play a mom again, suggesting that Carpenter could appear not as her daughter but as a long-lost cousin. She added that Sydney Sweeney would also be a perfect fit for the energetic and musical atmosphere of the franchise.
Seyfried also teased the possible return of familiar faces, noting that the iconic trio of “three dads” would be back, while Meryl Streep’s Donna would appear in ghost form. She confidently predicted that Julie Walters and Christine Baranski would also return, with plenty of ABBA music and a tropical backdrop.
