ISLAMABAD: On World Children’s Day, Pakistani actress Saba Qamar used her platform to call for greater awareness and action on children’s rights in the country. Dressed in a blue Unicef shirt, Qamar, National Ambassador for Child Rights in Pakistan, urged her followers to “come together” to ensure every child’s rights are protected.
In a video shared on Instagram, she highlighted that “every child has a right to learn, to grow up healthy, to live in a safe environment, and to have a voice in the decisions that shape their future.” She also encouraged Pakistanis to “turn Pakistan blue” in solidarity with World Children’s Day.

Qamar’s message comes amid alarming statistics, with Pakistan ranking sixth globally for child brides, where more than half of adolescent girls are pregnant before turning 18 — a life-threatening situation for both mother and child.
Appointed in 2024 as Unicef’s first National Ambassador for Child Rights in Pakistan, Qamar pledged to use her platform to advocate for issues affecting young people, including child marriage, education, mental health, gender equality, climate change, and the impact of violence and poverty. “I promise to play my part for the children and young people of Pakistan so that they can dream and have the chance to fulfil their dreams,” she said.
