The by-election campaigns for thirteen constituencies of Punjab’s national and provincial assemblies will officially conclude at midnight on November 21.
With the end of campaigning, voters now have the opportunity to reflect carefully and make informed choices, ensuring that democracy truly reflects the will of the people.
In line with election regulations, all campaigning will officially conclude at midnight, marking the transition from November 21 to November 22. Arrangements have almost been completed to hold the by-elections in six National and seven provincial assembly constituencies in Punjab, on Nov 23.
The ECP advises that candidates who continue engaging in political activities after this deadline will face legal consequences. Additionally, the ECP calls upon the media and the public to work together to uphold a free, fair, and transparent election process.
The Election Commission has reminded the candidates participating in the by-elections about Section 182 of the Election Act, 2017. This section prohibits individuals from organizing, attending, or participating in any public meetings or processions within the constituency’s area for a period of 48 hours after the polls end, until midnight.
The ECP cautioned that those who breach these regulations could be subject to penalties such as imprisonment for a maximum of two years, a fine of up to Rs100,000, or both.
National Assembly constituencies included NA-18 Haripur, NA-96 Faisalabad-Il, NA-104 Faisalabad-X, NA-129 Lahore-XIll, NA-143 Sahiwal-IlI, NA-185 D.G. Khan-ll, PP-73 Sargodha-llI, PP-87 Mianwali-lII, PP-98 Faisalabad-I, PP-115 Faisalabad-XVIll, PP-116 Faisalabad-XIX, PP-203 Sahiwal-VI and PP-269 Muzaffargarh-ll.
