
KARACHI: Engineering Development Board (EDB) Chief Executive Hammad Ali Mansoor has urged local auto manufacturers to focus on exporting ‘Made-in-Pakistan’ vehicles, citing Pakistan’s auto market as stronger than those of Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Sri Lanka. He made the remarks during the inauguration of the Pakistan Auto Show at the Karachi Expo Centre on Friday.

Mansoor encouraged manufacturers and auto parts producers to innovate and secure international export orders, emphasizing the need for future-focused strategies to enhance Pakistan’s automotive presence globally. He noted that local efforts could capitalize on technological advancements to compete effectively in the global market.
FPCCI Senior Vice-President Saqib Fayaz Magoon highlighted the progress of the automotive industry under the ‘Make-in-Pakistan’ initiative, stressing that the sector plays a key role in national development, employment generation, and revenue collection. He called for a long-term industrial policy to strengthen Pakistan’s engineering, manufacturing, and development sectors.

PAAPAM Senior Vice-Chairman Shehryar Qadir said the auto show featured over 172 exhibitors, including local manufacturers and international partners from China, South Korea, Singapore, and Iran. The event showcased innovations in vehicles and parts, demonstrating Pakistan’s manufacturing capabilities and opportunities despite ongoing policy and industry challenges.
Pak Suzuki Motor Company introduced the country’s first XUV, the Suzuki Fronx 1,500cc Hybrid, scheduled for release in May 2026, while other Chinese assemblers unveiled upcoming variants at the show, signaling growing diversity in Pakistan’s automotive sector.
