
Islamabad: The Supreme Court approved amendments to its Rules 2025 during a full court session led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. The meeting reviewed the 1980 Rules in detail. Judges finalized changes to update court procedures and improve efficiency nationwide.
The amendments were drafted by a committee of judges including Shahid Waheed, Irfan Saadat, Naeem Afghan, and Aqeel Abbasi. The committee studied current legal practices and proposed revisions to streamline court processes. The rules aim to reduce delays and enhance transparency across all levels of the judiciary.

During the session, the court also approved granting Senior Advocate status to Munir Pracha. This move recognizes his experience and contribution to Pakistan’s legal system. It also signals the judiciary’s commitment to merit-based recognition for practicing lawyers.
Experts said the updated Rules 2025 will modernize case management and improve administrative efficiency in courts. The amendments include clearer procedures for hearings, filing documents, and courtroom conduct. They are expected to strengthen overall justice delivery.
