LOS ANGELES – Kim Kardashian is facing renewed criticism after her 12-year-old daughter, North West, showcased new dermal piercings on her fingers via TikTok. Unlike conventional piercings, dermal piercings require a small anchor to be implanted under the skin, leaving the jewelry seemingly fixed on the surface.
Experts have warned that such piercings, especially on the hands, can be risky due to constant use, potential snagging, and poor healing. Lulu Ave, a piercing and jewelry company, noted that dermal piercings may not heal well and can lead to complications if not properly cared for.

The photos quickly circulated on Reddit, sparking backlash from users who criticized Kim and Kanye West for allowing the procedure. Many argued that the procedure was inappropriate for a 12-year-old and expressed concern about pushing children to appear older than their age.
Critics voiced their opinions, with one writing, “Dermal piercings at 12 on your hand is wild. I’m all for allowing your children to express themselves and find their own style, but not this, not at 12.” Another added, “Why are they letting 12-year-olds look 25? Kim and Kanye need to be better parents.”
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West share four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. The controversy over North’s piercings highlights ongoing public scrutiny of the couple’s parenting choices and their children’s exposure on social media.
