Israel has opened the Zikim crossing into northern Gaza to allow humanitarian aid trucks supplied by the UN and international organisations to enter the conflict-affected region.

Humanitarian aid entering through Zikim will undergo Israeli security checks before being dispatched via the UN to reach affected populations, ensuring both safety and accountability during delivery.
The UN World Food Programme reported that aid trucks had not been able to collect cargo in north Gaza since the crossing closed on September 12, worsening food shortages.
Aid distribution within Gaza remains challenging due to damaged infrastructure and risks of looting, while humanitarian organisations stress that opening direct northern crossings is crucial for timely delivery to those in need.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) highlighted that northern Gaza continues to face severe food insecurity, with famine conditions previously confirmed despite official contestation by COGAT.
