CM Maryam Nawaz pays glowing tribute to Allama Iqbal’s legacy

Published on: November 9, 2025 5:54 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid rich tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the “Poet of the East” and “Father of Pakistan,” on his 148th birth anniversary. In her message, she said Iqbal’s philosophy of self-respect and self-reliance remains a timeless guide for the nation. She emphasized that by following his thoughts and teachings, Pakistan can transform into a prosperous, welfare-oriented state that truly reflects the ideals envisioned by its founding thinkers.

Maryam Nawaz highlighted that Allama Iqbal was not just a poet but also a visionary philosopher and reformer who awakened the spirit of freedom among Muslims in the subcontinent. She noted that Iqbal’s ideas played a vital role in guiding Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s movement for Pakistan’s creation. His poetry, she said, continues to inspire courage, faith, and determination in the country’s youth, motivating them to build a strong and self-sufficient nation.

The Chief Minister further stated that the best way to honor Iqbal is to adopt his philosophy of dignity, justice, and equality in both governance and social life. “Only by embracing Iqbal’s teachings can Pakistan become a balanced, progressive, and welfare-focused state,” she remarked. She stressed that implementing Iqbal’s ideas in policy and practice would ensure that his vision remains alive and continues to shape Pakistan’s identity in the modern era.

Maryam Nawaz also reflected on the universal nature of Iqbal’s message, noting that his poetry promotes high moral values, democracy, honesty, and faith in human potential. She said Iqbal’s work carries a global relevance, urging Muslims to rise above divisions and embody the principles of justice and unity. “Iqbal’s message of self-awareness and self-confidence must be understood and practiced by every generation,” she added, underscoring the poet’s enduring influence.

Concluding her tribute, the Chief Minister called for renewed national commitment to Iqbal’s ideals. She said, “By putting Iqbal’s principles into action, we can build a fair and just society that ensures equality and opportunity for all. True adherence to his philosophy will enable Pakistan to achieve political, economic, and moral strength on the global stage. Today, we must pledge to make Iqbal’s vision our guiding light for the nation’s future.”
