The internet is once again overflowing with memes and fan frustration as Take-Two Interactive has officially delayed Grand Theft Auto VI for the second time, pushing its release to November 19, 2026. The announcement means gamers will now have to wait an extra six months for one of the most anticipated titles in video game history.
In a statement, the company said the delay was necessary to “give the team some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve.” Take-Two emphasized that Rockstar Games has its “full support” and expressed confidence that the final product would deliver “an unrivaled blockbuster entertainment experience.”

CEO Strauss Zelnick told GamesIndustry.biz that the company is “confident in the new date,” adding, “We’re trying very hard to deliver the most extraordinary interactive entertainment experience ever created.” Zelnick acknowledged that while delays are never ideal, extra development time ensures the quality that Rockstar fans expect.
This marks the second official postponement for GTA 6, which was first announced in December 2023 with a tentative 2025 release. That date was later shifted to May 2026, and now to November 2026. If it holds, the new launch will arrive 13 years after its predecessor, GTA 5, which debuted in September 2013.

The delay has ripple effects across the gaming industry, as several developers had already moved their major titles to avoid competing with GTA 6. With the new schedule, many releases will now crowd into the late 2026 holiday season — setting up an even more competitive year for blockbuster gaming.
