The Sindh government has announced the second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme, following its successful September debut. Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed that the next phase of scooter distribution will begin soon. Women are encouraged to obtain driving licenses, complete training courses, and register for the program to participate.
Sharjeel said the government aims to expand the initiative to boost women’s independence and safe travel. The program is designed to allow women to commute with dignity while pursuing education and careers. “The first phase received an overwhelming response,” he noted. “Dozens of women learned to drive, obtained licenses, and began using Pink Scooties daily.”

The minister highlighted broader public transport efforts in Karachi, including the People’s Bus Service, Pink Bus Service, Electric Bus Service, and the Pink Scooty Scheme. These initiatives aim to provide safe, affordable, and dignified travel for the city’s residents.
Sharjeel emphasized that empowering women is a core principle of the Pakistan People’s Party. “Women’s empowerment is not just a government project,” he said, “it continues Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision and remains central to our party’s philosophy.”
The second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme promises to extend the benefits of safe, independent travel to more women across Sindh, strengthening mobility and opportunity for all participants.
