In a separate incident, a massive fire erupted in a settlement near Munnawar Chowrangi in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area late Saturday night, destroying around 300 huts out of a total of 500. The fire also burnt motorcycles and livestock, leaving residents devastated.
An eyewitness said the fire broke out at around 1:00 AM when most people were asleep. “We ran to save our lives as the flames spread rapidly,” he said, adding that two to three fire brigade vehicles reached the site to douse the fire. Residents have appealed to the government for immediate assistance, as most have lost their homes and belongings in the tragedy.
