The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab has foiled a major terrorist plan by arresting 18 terrorists belonging to a banned organisation in a month during operations in different areas of Punjab.
According to the spokesperson, CTD Punjab conducted 386 intelligence-based operations in different districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism, in which 386 suspects were interrogated and 18 terrorists were arrested along with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.
The arrested terrorists are Muhammad Karim, Ali Raza, Muhammad Aziz, Muhammad Ali Hashim, Noorul Amin Saleem, Saddam, etc. These arrested terrorists belong to Fitna-ul-Khwarij and other terrorist organisations. The arrested terrorists belong to Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Khushab, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Gujranwala, Narowal and Pakpattan. From terrorists, 3,020 grams of explosives, 14 detonators, 33 feet of safety fuse wire, 3 EID bombs, 151 pamphlets of the banned organisation, magazines, Prima cards, mobile phones, and cash have been recovered.
The spokesperson said that the terrorists had planned to target sensitive buildings in different cities. He added that 18 cases have been registered against the arrested terrorists, and further investigation is being carried out.
The spokesman informed that during one month, 4,601 combing operations were also carried out with the cooperation of local police and security agencies, 109,892 people were checked, 320 suspects were arrested, 314 FIRs were registered, and 282 recoveries were made.g
