
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has ordered the immediate release of Rs3 billion for the Health Card program. The Finance Department promptly issued a notification to release the funds. Officials said this step ensures uninterrupted healthcare services across the province.
Advisor to the KP government, Mazammil Aslam, said the Chief Minister reviewed the Health Card Plus program during a briefing. Afridi emphasized quick action to continue benefits for eligible citizens. The move is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to public health.

Aslam added that former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had restored the Health Card Plus facility immediately after taking office. He said the program continues the PTI vision of providing free treatment for all. The statement reassured citizens amid social media rumors about program suspension.
This year, KP’s Finance Department allocated Rs41 billion for the Health Card scheme, up from Rs36 billion last year. In just four months, the government has already released Rs9.65 billion to hospitals for patient services.

Officials confirmed that both public and private hospitals continue to provide Health Card services without disruption. Payments to hospitals under the scheme are being processed regularly, ensuring smooth operation of healthcare facilities across the province.
