Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials for a record 5.9 million tax returns filed in FY2025. He said that 900,000 new taxpayers joining the system show strong public trust in government policies. The PM thanked citizens for fulfilling their responsibility and noted that tax reforms are delivering positive results.

The Prime Minister also monitored FBR digitization personally and chaired weekly review meetings. He said that filing tax returns has been made simpler and more convenient for taxpayers. Ports now have automated clearance systems, reducing corruption and improving operational efficiency. Additionally, sales tax collection has improved through expanded point-of-sale systems.

He revealed that tax revenue increased by 9 billion rupees compared to last year. The PM said these numbers reflect the success of FBR reforms. He added that the government remains committed to eliminating corruption and reducing the informal economy. Officials are working tirelessly to maintain transparency and improve performance.
