Apple CEO Tim Cook open to acquisitions to boost AI

Published on: November 1, 2025 3:31 PM

Tim Cook signals Apple open to M&A on the AI front
Apple CEO Tim Cook signaled this week that the company remains open to mergers and acquisitions as part of its strategy to advance artificial intelligence initiatives. His remarks came during Apple’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings call, where he also provided updates on the next-generation AI-powered Siri, slated for a 2026 launch.

Cook confirmed that Apple continues to follow its three-pronged AI strategy: developing in-house foundation models, partnering with third-party large language model providers, and considering acquisitions. He said the company constantly monitors the market and is “open to pursuing M&A if we believe it will advance our roadmap.”

During a pre-earnings interview with CNBC, Cook revealed that Apple plans to announce additional AI partnerships similar to its integration of ChatGPT into Siri and Apple Intelligence. The CEO highlighted the role of Apple’s Private Cloud Compute system, which handles private AI processing and is already being used to process some Siri queries.

Cook also noted that Apple recently began manufacturing servers for Apple Intelligence in Houston, with a planned ramp-up for use in its data centers. He added that AI capabilities are increasingly influencing consumers’ smartphone choices, stating, “Apple Intelligence is a factor, and we’re very bullish on it becoming a greater factor.”
