KARACHI — Former PTI leader and ex-federal minister Ali Haider Zaidi on Saturday denied reports suggesting he was planning a political comeback, clarifying that he had no intention of re-entering politics anytime soon.
Zaidi, who was among several senior PTI leaders to quit politics or the party following the May 9, 2023 riots, dismissed claims that he was preparing for a “political relaunch.” “Let me be clear: I am not planning to enter politics anytime soon,” he stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Explaining his reasons, Zaidi cited personal and financial constraints, along with disillusionment over what he described as a corrupt political system. “There is no politics in a country where the corrupt, the land grabbers, the extortionists, even those with blood on their hands are gifted power through a rigged election, protected by a compromised judiciary,” he said. “When justice dies, politics loses its purpose.”

Zaidi praised imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan as “the only leader who truly tried to change this system,” adding, “Sadly, he’s rotting in jail. And we all know why.”
His statement followed media reports by Daily Ausaf and The Express Tribune, which claimed that several ex-PTI figures, including Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar, Imran Ismail, Mahmood Moulvi, and Sibtain Khan, were planning to launch a political movement for Imran Khan’s release. Zaidi’s remarks, however, firmly rejected any association with such plans.
