ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday announced that two of Islamabad’s major infrastructure projects — the T-Chowk Flyover and the Shaheen Chowk Underpass — will be opened to the public in early December 2025.
During his visit to both sites, the minister reviewed the progress of ongoing construction and expressed satisfaction over the pace of work. He was briefed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Engineering on the current status and completion timeline of the projects.

Mr Naqvi stressed that no compromise would be tolerated on quality or speed, instructing officials to maintain high standards and ensure timely completion. “Both the pace and standard of work must be maintained at all costs,” he said. The minister shared that 60% of the work on the T-Chowk Flyover has already been completed. Once operational, it will provide a signal-free corridor from GT Road to Islamabad, easing traffic congestion and significantly improving commuting conditions for thousands of daily travelers.
Calling it a key milestone in resolving the capital’s traffic woes, Naqvi said the government’s top priority was to enhance mobility and reduce travel time for citizens. Regarding the Shaheen Chowk Underpass, Naqvi directed that the project be completed within 30 days, with construction continuing round the clock. The underpass, he noted, will ease peak-hour congestion, especially during school and office timings.

“The Shaheen Chowk Underpass will set a new benchmark for urban infrastructure in Islamabad,” the minister said, adding that both projects will greatly improve traffic flow and boost the city’s overall development.
