Punjab govt readies law to take on land-property mafia

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved Punjab Protection of Ownership and Immovable Property Ordinance 2025 to deal with those who grab the property of the people.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has established Dispute Resolution Committees under Ordinance for the petitioners who have been going through the courts for years.

Now every land grabbing case in Punjab will be decided by the Dispute Resolution Committee in just 90 days.

A special tribunal set up under the chairmanship of a retired judge of the High Court will hear the appeal against the decision of the Dispute Resolution Committee.

The special tribunal will also be bound to decide the appeal within 90.

According to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a state at the doorstep of the people, under the new ordinance, in every district of Punjab Dispute Resolution Committee to be established.

Under the new justice system in Punjab, the Dispute Resolution Committee will resolve the issue of possession of private property before going to court.

The Convener of the 6-member District Settlement Committee will include the Deputy Commissioner, DPO and other officials. Target set to make Dispute Resolution Committees functional within 30 days.

A new example of state writ and protection of public property rights established and land will be recovered from the possession mafia within 24 hours after the decision of the case.

Recommendation to hire Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) to free possession from those who grab the property of the people was reviewed in the meeting.

Proposals for digital records and social media live streaming for transparency were also reviewed.

Maryam Nawaz said no one will snatch anyone’s land in Punjab now, a mother-like state stands with every weak. Whoever owns it has the right to own it and the chapter of the mafia has been closed forever, Maryam Nawaz said. She said for a common man, a small property or land is the whole universe and the mafia takes possession of it.

Separately, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had a meeting with assembly members and ticket holders of Faisalabad division for a detailed discussion on ongoing and future development projects, overall political scenario in the region and public service agenda of Faisalabad division.

The visiting parliamentarians and ticket holders expressed full confidence in the visionary and unwavering leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and thanked her for providing electrobus service in Faisalabad. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that justice, convenience and employment would be provided to every citizen at his/her doorstep. This is not my promise, but my mission and determination. She noted that Faisalabad is the industrial backbone of Punjab, whose development strengthens economy of the entire province. She vowed to ensure rule of law in Punjab at all costs, and underscored that public satisfaction is the basis of real governance.

One of the them said that since Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif came to power, people are getting good news every day. She has handled law and order in the province with prompt and effective decisions, which has become an example for the entire country. They underscored thst under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a new era of development, transparency and public service has begun in the province. They noted that projects like Honorable Scholarship and Laptop Scheme are empowering youth.
