Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is now in a position to form the government in Azad Kashmir, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, he promised that the party will address Kashmir’s issues through political solutions. He assured citizens that the new Prime Minister would be chosen from Kashmir, not Islamabad.
Bilawal said PPP leaders and members of the legislative assembly would serve the people throughout the remaining term. He took personal responsibility for ensuring public service and promised not to disappoint the citizens of Kashmir. He emphasized that serving Kashmiris remains the party’s core mission.

The PPP chairman highlighted the party’s long-standing commitment to Kashmir. He stated that the party has fought for Kashmir for three generations and represented the people’s rights on every platform. Despite challenges during past elections, including interference by state institutions, PPP secured victories that reflected public support.
On October 25, PPP officially announced its plan to form the Azad Kashmir government after a meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari. The decision followed the defection of 10 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members to PPP, giving the party the numbers needed to govern. Meetings were held with senior party leaders to finalize leadership roles, including the choice of the new Prime Minister.

PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-N agreed to bring a no-confidence motion against the current government while supporting in-house changes. Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal confirmed that PML-N would remain in opposition but back PPP’s move. The decision has formal approval from President Zardari and marks a significant shift in Azad Kashmir’s political landscape.
