Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said he was stopped from meeting PTI Chairman Imran Khan despite a court order allowing the meeting. The meetings were to be arranged according to a list provided by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. However, jail authorities prevented the CM and other PTI leaders from meeting Khan, leading them to stage a protest outside Adiala Jail before leaving without the visit.
Speaking at a ceremony at the Peshawar Bar, Afridi said, “As Chief Minister, I wanted to meet my party chairman, but a constable stopped me despite the Islamabad High Court’s order.” He criticized the act as a sign of judicial weakness, saying, “It is a shame when a constable throws judges’ orders into the trash.”

Afridi urged the judiciary to assert its authority when its orders are ignored. He said everyone should stand with the judges to ensure that court decisions are respected. The chief minister stressed that disregarding judicial directions undermines the rule of law.
In a letter to the Islamabad High Court, Afridi requested a copy of the official order to move the case forward. He stated that, to date, no copy of the court’s directive has been received by the KP government.

The incident has sparked concern over the enforcement of judicial rulings and the relationship between provincial authorities, the judiciary, and law enforcement agencies. Afridi said the matter raises serious questions about respect for court authority in the country.
