Lahore Digital Arts Festival (LDF) officially announced the participating artists for its upcoming exhibition and public programme Breathing Algorithms. Co-curated by Najamul Assar and Sarah Rajper, the initiative is organised in collaboration with Novembre Numérique and the Alliance Française de Lahore,
with the support of the Institut Français and the French Embassy in Pakistan.
As artificial intelligence continues to redefine creative practice and the climate crisis shapes our collective present, Breathing Algorithms explores how artistic experimentation can cultivate new forms of awareness, resilience and care. The participating artists engage these questions through a wide spectrum of media ranging from immersive installations and algorithmic art to sound, video and speculative design transforming digital aesthetics into urgent ecological and social inquiry.
This year’s participating artists include Aamina Hashmi, Areesha Khuwaja, Bahman Fakouri, Fajr Faisal, Hamza Bajwa, Haris Hidayat Ullah, Huzaifa Ahmad, Isabelle Arvers, John Desnoyers-Stewart, M4HK, Megan Smith, Mikhail Morgalis, Miraal Habib, Mishaim Gardezi, Muhammad Bux, Samina Kausar Ansari, Ujala Khan and Zuha Farooq. Spanning practices across Pakistan, France, Denmark, Canada, the US and the UK, these artists bring together a constellation of perspectives exploring gendered technologies, algorithmic empathy, environmental justice and post-human imagination. Through their work, Breathing Algorithms becomes a living inquiry into how art and technology can coexist with sensitivity toward both human and non-human worlds.
“This exhibition reflects how artists across borders are using digital media not only to critique systems of power but also to envision futures shaped by collaboration, care and ecological consciousness,” said Najam Ul Assar, Founding Curator of the Lahore Digital Arts Festival. The exhibition and its accompanying public programs will take place across multiple venues in Lahore, including the Alliance Française Lahore, Aangun Cultural Center, R Space, Alhamra Mall Road and Beaconhouse National University.
