
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has achieved a major milestone by recovering Rs1.10 trillion during the third quarter of 2025, marking a 242 percent increase compared to the previous quarter. The bureau’s latest figures highlight a strong performance in anti-corruption and asset recovery efforts across multiple regions, reaffirming its commitment to restoring public wealth. So far, NAB has recovered a total of Rs1,649.36 billion (Rs1.65 trillion) during the first three quarters of the year.
This significant recovery benefited 17,194 victims involved in various cases of public fraud. NAB officials stated that the bureau’s focus on financial restitution and accountability has delivered positive results, ensuring that victims of large-scale scams receive compensation. The bureau emphasized that enhanced monitoring and digital systems helped accelerate recovery operations during this period, leading to record-breaking outcomes.

Regional NAB offices also played a crucial role in the overall performance. NAB Karachi recovered two valuable plots worth Rs2.8 billion in the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) case and successfully handed them back to the authority. Meanwhile, NAB Sukkur recovered 361 acres of additional National Highway Authority (NHA) land valued at Rs2.5 billion, strengthening state ownership of key assets.
Moreover, one of the most notable recoveries came from NAB’s environmental and land protection initiatives. During this quarter, the bureau reclaimed 1.39 million acres of mangrove forest land worth Rs1,104.97 billion, raising the total recovery of forest land to Rs2,592.74 billion (Rs2.59 trillion). NAB Balochistan also retrieved 414,036 acres of forest land worth Rs44.8 billion, further reinforcing environmental preservation efforts.

In addition, NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recovered illegally allotted state land worth Rs3.2 billion and returned it to the Ministry of Industries and Production. The bureau also made a breakthrough in compensating victims of financial scams by initiating online payments for 5,008 victims of the B4U case for the first time. With these recoveries, NAB has strengthened its position as a key institution in Pakistan’s fight against corruption, focusing on both accountability and the restoration of national assets.
