Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday held an important meeting with members of parliament and political leaders from KP to discuss the country’s overall political landscape and review the progress of ongoing development projects in the province.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office, focused on federal efforts to boost socio-economic development in KP and enhance coordination between the center and provincial stakeholders, a Prime Minister’s Office news release said.
The PM reiterated the government’s commitment to equitable development across all regions, emphasizing that KP remains a key priority in the national agenda.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the pace of development work and directed relevant authorities to expedite key infrastructure and welfare projects. He also emphasized the need for sustained political engagement to ensure stability and growth in the province.
Prominent figures present at the meeting included Federal Ministers Engineer Amir Muqam, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, Attaullah Tarar, and Rana Mubashir Iqbal. Advisor to PM Rana Sanaullah, Peer Sabir Shah, Captain (r) Safdar, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Ikhtiyar Wali, and Sardar Mushtaq were also present.
Separately, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Wednesday that bulletproof denied by the new KP CM would be sent to Balochistan instead.
On Monday, Afridi had blamed the “flawed policy” of the federal government for the resurgence of terrorism being witnessed in the province. He further claimed that the federal government was neither giving KP funds allocated under the country’s ongoing war against terrorism, nor “other constitutional rights”. Late on Tuesday, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti had commented on the claims and said that like KP, his province was also affected by terrorism.
Naqvi responded to Bugti’s post and said: “CM sahib, done. These bulletproof vehicles will be sent to Balochistan immediately to enhance counter-terrorism efforts. Thank you for raising this.”
