Rabada rewrites history with stunning 71 at no. 11

Published on: October 22, 2025 7:21 PM

South African pacer Kagiso Rabada made history during the third day of the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan. Coming in at number 11, Rabada surprised everyone with a powerful batting performance. He scored 71 runs off just 61 balls and played fearlessly throughout his innings. His aggressive batting helped South Africa recover from a tough position and build a crucial lead.

Rabada’s innings broke a 119-year-old South African record for the highest score by a number 11 batter in Test cricket. The previous record was held by Bert Vogler, who scored 62 not out against England in 1906. Rabada’s effort now ranks as the fifth-highest score by a number 11 batter in Test history. His quick scoring and confidence with the bat earned praise from fans and analysts alike.

Importantly, Rabada shared a 98-run partnership with Senuran Muthusamy, which changed the course of the innings. Their stand helped South Africa post a total that gave them a 71-run lead over Pakistan. At a time when the team was under pressure, Rabada’s batting gave them momentum and hope. His contribution was vital in keeping South Africa ahead in the game.

Though Rabada is known for his fast bowling, this innings proved he can also be dangerous with the bat. His six boundaries and four sixes thrilled the crowd and lifted the team’s spirits. It was a display of raw talent and determination from the tailender. The innings will be remembered as one of the highlights of his career.

As the match moves forward, Rabada’s knock has put Pakistan on the back foot. It also inspired South Africa, showing the impact a lower-order batter can have. This historic moment added excitement to the Rawalpindi Test and reminded cricket lovers that records can be broken when least expected.
