Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, has directed the return of faulty bulletproof vehicles given by the federal government to the police. He said the vehicles were old, substandard, and insulting to the KP police. The CM made this statement during his first formal cabinet meeting in Peshawar, where he also reviewed the province’s governance roadmap.
In the meeting, Afridi received a detailed briefing on KP’s governance priorities. These focus on public service delivery, law and order, and economic revival. He praised the bureaucracy and police for resisting political pressure during the February 8 elections. However, he also warned that officials who failed to protect public mandate will face action, while those who stood firm will be rewarded.

Afridi called for the return of extra security provided to former chief ministers. He stressed that law and order is his government’s top priority and assured that the police will receive all necessary funds, modern equipment, and weapons. He strongly criticized the federal government, blaming its flawed policies for a resurgence of terrorism in the province.
He said KP is being denied its constitutional rights and war-on-terror funds, which are essential for strengthening the police force. Afridi emphasized that police will not be used for political revenge, and no student or citizen will face fake FIRs. He added that KP’s police should never become like Punjab’s, where allegations of custodial abuse and political interference are common.

Finally, Afridi promised zero tolerance for corruption, political victimization, or favoritism in transfers and postings. He vowed that all decisions will be made on merit and transparency. “Public servants must serve the people,” he said, adding that anyone failing to deliver will be removed. Afridi ended with a clear message: he will go beyond traditional politics to deliver results.
