
China has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the two neighbors will continue peaceful talks. Spokesperson Guo Jiakun praised the countries for choosing dialogue over conflict. He said both nations are traditional friends of China and cannot be separated by geography or history.
The ceasefire was brokered by Qatar and Türkiye, according to a statement by Qatar’s Foreign Ministry. Both Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to stop hostilities immediately. They also confirmed their commitment to continue talks for a lasting peace. A new round of negotiations is scheduled for October 25 in Istanbul, as confirmed by Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif.

During a press briefing, Guo Jiakun said China supports all efforts that promote peace in the region. He appreciated the constructive role played by the mediators. He also noted that stability in Pakistan and Afghanistan benefits the entire region. China urged both sides to keep working toward long-term solutions.
Guo emphasized that dialogue and consultation are the only way forward. He encouraged both nations to resolve their disputes through peaceful means. China, he said, sincerely hopes for lasting peace and cooperation between the two countries. He also stressed the importance of maintaining stability in the region.
