ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court Islamabad on Monday approved the exemption plea of former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in the diplomatic passport misuse case.
Judicial Magistrate Ahmad Shehzad Gondal presided over the hearing into allegations that Ilyas had misused a diplomatic passport after leaving office.

During the proceedings, Ilyas’s counsel submitted an exemption request citing the former premier’s inability to appear in court. The judge accepted the plea.
Due to Ilyas’s absence, prosecution witnesses could not record their statements, prompting the court to resummon them for the next hearing. The court has adjourned proceedings until October 31, directing that the witnesses be present at the next session.
