PIA begins direct flights to Muscat to strengthen gulf ties

Published on: October 18, 2025 3:07 PM

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched new direct flights from Lahore and Islamabad to Muscat. The flights will begin on October 29 from Lahore and October 30 from Islamabad. This step is part of PIA’s plan to expand its presence in the Gulf region. The airline aims to boost connectivity and offer better travel options to passengers. These routes will use Airbus A320 aircraft for a smooth and comfortable journey.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the new routes target both business and leisure travelers. The flights will also serve the large Pakistani community living in Muscat. PIA expects strong demand on these routes due to close ties between Pakistan and Oman. The Gulf is a key travel market for Pakistan’s national carrier. Therefore, the new flights are expected to meet growing passenger needs.

PIA also sees this as a major revenue opportunity. The airline has been working on reviving its international network. As part of this effort, it is focusing on destinations that promise higher demand and better returns. By adding Muscat, PIA hopes to tap into a profitable market. This step supports the airline’s broader recovery and growth strategy.

In recent months, PIA has faced financial and operational challenges. However, it continues to push for improvements through route expansion and better service. The Muscat launch is a step toward regaining its position in the region. It also shows the airline’s commitment to serve overseas Pakistanis more effectively.

Going forward, PIA plans to add more destinations in the Middle East. The airline is focusing on increasing flights where demand is high. These efforts aim to restore passenger trust and improve the airline’s performance. With the Muscat launch, PIA takes a firm step toward achieving its goals in international aviation.
