Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed strong concern over terrorist attacks launched from Afghan soil into Pakistan. Chairing a high-level security meeting in Islamabad, he said it was disturbing that Afghan nationals were involved in such attacks, especially when Pakistan had supported Afghanistan through decades of hardship. He emphasized that Pakistan had always stood by Afghanistan in its most difficult times.
The meeting was attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, federal ministers, chief ministers of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was represented by provincial advisor Muzzammil Aslam. The meeting reviewed cross-border infiltration, the situation with Afghan refugees, and domestic security challenges, including wheat supply and flood damages.

PM Shehbaz praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for responding firmly to Afghan provocations. He said the army, under Field Marshal Munir’s leadership, had successfully repelled the attacks. He lauded Munir’s leadership and said the entire nation was proud of the army’s swift and professional response. He added that such aggression must not go unanswered.
The premier also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to prevent the use of Afghan territory for terrorism. Senior Pakistani officials, including the deputy prime minister and defense minister, had held multiple rounds of talks with the Afghan interim government. However, attacks continue despite these efforts. Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan had suffered thousands of casualties and billions in economic losses during its fight against terrorism.

Lastly, the prime minister reaffirmed the federal government’s full support to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He assured cooperation with the provincial government for public welfare and regional development. He called for national unity in facing these threats and stressed the need for joint efforts to ensure peace and security across Pakistan.
