FIFA vows to rebuild Gaza’s football infrastructure after ceasefire

Published on: October 14, 2025 6:51 PM

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has pledged to rebuild all football facilities in Gaza after a recent ceasefire ended a two-year war. Speaking at the Summit for Peace in Egypt, Infantino promised full support for Gaza’s recovery through football. He said FIFA will bring equipment, rebuild pitches, and organize local competitions in partnership with the Palestinian Football Association. Infantino emphasized that football gives hope to children and helps unite communities. He also announced plans to launch a global fund to support Gaza’s football infrastructure.

The summit was co-hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. It gathered world leaders to discuss stability and reconstruction in Gaza. Leaders from the Muslim world, Europe, and the United Nations attended the high-level meeting. Infantino’s presence stood out as he was one of the few sports figures at the event. He used the moment to highlight football’s role in healing war-torn regions.

Infantino praised Trump’s leadership, calling it key to the peace process. He said Trump helped bring countries together to support Gaza. According to Infantino, nations like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Indonesia, and others played vital roles. He said Trump’s efforts helped build bridges and end division in the region. Infantino believes this unity can lead to lasting peace in the Middle East.

In a LinkedIn post, Infantino thanked Trump for inviting him to the summit. He assured global leaders that FIFA will support the peace process. He also said FIFA is ready to contribute however possible to ensure this peace leads to progress. Infantino wants the world to see football as a tool for hope and unity. He urged others to join FIFA’s efforts to rebuild Gaza’s sports culture.

Meanwhile, FIFA continues to face pressure over Israel’s role in the conflict. Human rights groups and Palestinian officials want Israel suspended from international football. Amnesty International recently urged FIFA and UEFA to take action. Infantino said decisions must come from consensus among confederations. He added that football cannot solve conflicts but must always promote peace and unity.
