DUBAI — The Palestinian group Hamas has published the names of 20 Israeli hostages who will be freed under the first phase of a ceasefire agreement with Israel.
The list includes Bar Abraham Kupershtein, Evyatar David, Yosef-Chaim Ohana, Segev Kalfon, Avinatan Or, Elkana Bohbot, Maxim Herkin, Nimrod Cohen, Matan Angrest, Matan Zangauker, Eitan Horn, Eitan Abraham Mor, Gali Berman, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Alon Ohel, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, Rom Braslavski, Ariel Cunio, and David Cunio.
The ceasefire, which began Friday, is seen as a major step toward ending a two-year war that began with Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 kidnapped.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the fighting has killed 67,000 Palestinians, with roughly half being women and children, and displaced 90% of Gaza’s two million residents.
Israel says 48 hostages remain in Gaza, though at least 25 are believed dead. The only remaining female hostage is also thought to have died in captivity.
In return for the released hostages, Israel will free around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, under terms brokered with international mediation.
