Punjab’s mineral sector best place to invest, CM tells Saudi delegation

Published on: October 13, 2025 3:42 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that her government’s efforts to attract Saudi investment have begun to yield remarkable results, as a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the visit of the Pak-Saudi Joint Business Council delegation to Punjab.

The grand MoU signing ceremony, held in front of the iconic Alamgiri Gate of the Badshahi Mosque, was witnessed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chairman Pak-Saudi Joint Business Council Prince Mansoor bin Muhammad bin Saad Al Saud, said a handout issued here on Sunday.

The CM said that Saudi investors have expressed strong interest in seven major sectors in Punjab’s Special Economic and Industrial Zones, including real estate development, hospitality, healthcare infrastructure, mining, minerals, transport, logistics, and agriculture. She added that collaboration in livestock and aquaculture development would also be pursued.

“Punjab is the best place to invest. We are determined to make it an industrial hub by extending all possible facilities and support to Saudi investors,” she stated, emphasizing that Punjab’s natural and mineral resources were real economic treasures awaiting full utilization.

The delegation members expressed satisfaction over the Chief Minister’s economic vision.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif assured them that a dedicated focal agency of the Punjab government would facilitate Saudi investors and companies, adding that the provincial government would adopt a fast-track mechanism to implement the Pak-Saudi investment projects effectively.

Separately, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has strongly condemned Afghanistan’s unprovoked aggression against Pakistan and paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Army for its brave and timely response.

The chief minister said the Pakistan Army is the symbol of national honor, pride, determination, and dignity, and has once again responded to Afghan aggression with courage, wisdom, and unity.

CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that Pakistan’s borders are a sacred trust, and their protection is the responsibility of every citizen. She said the response to Afghan aggression conveys a clear message that the Pakistan Army is the guarantor of peace, not a sign of weakness.

The CM, reaffirming the resolve of the people of Punjab, said that 120 million Punjabis stand shoulder to shoulder with their valiant armed forces. “We want peace, but there will be no compromise on the integrity of Pakistan or the safety of its citizens,” she concluded.
