The Toshakhana case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi has reached a key stage. The prosecution has closed its evidence. The Islamabad court summoned the couple to record their final statements on Wednesday before the verdict. Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand issued the orders under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The case involves allegations that Khan and Bushra Bibi retained an expensive Bulgari jewellery set gifted by the Saudi royal family. The set included a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings. The prosecution claimed it was worth around Rs80 million but was purchased for only Rs2.9 million. Authorities say this undervaluation caused a major loss to the national treasury.

During proceedings, the prosecution presented 21 witnesses. Among them was Khan’s former military secretary, who gave “damaging” testimony. He said Khan had instructed him not to deposit the Bulgari set in Toshakhana and instead kept it. This statement is seen as a critical point in the prosecution’s case.
Another witness, Sohaib Abbasi, testified that he undervalued the jewellery at Rs5 million under pressure from Khan’s former personal secretary, Inamullah Shah. These statements reinforced claims that Toshakhana rules were violated. The court noted the testimony as significant evidence before hearing the final statements of the accused.
