COLOMBO – Pakistan’s women’s cricket team endured their second straight defeat in the Women’s World Cup 2025, falling to arch-rivals India by 88 runs in Colombo on Sunday. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Pakistan restricted India to 247 — marking the first time they have dismissed India in a complete One-Day International (ODI) innings.

However, the Green Shirts’ batting order once again collapsed under pressure, managing only 159 runs in 43 overs, falling well short of the target. The defeat drew harsh criticism from fans, who expressed disappointment at Pakistan’s continued failures against India on major stages.

One frustrated supporter remarked that the women’s team performed even worse than the men’s side, while another sarcastically commented: “Pakistan Women’s team can only win against one side in this wide world — Pakistan Men’s team.” Others mocked the team’s sluggish strike rate and lack of intent during the chase, with one fan quipping, “Pakistan women playing better Test than their men’s team.”

The loss leaves Pakistan struggling for momentum in the group stage, with their next fixture now crucial to keeping semi-final hopes alive.

Junaid Bhai, you are wasting your time. Pakistan Women’s Team will never play aggressively like England, India or Australia, even if you coach them for 50 years. @iramizraja @iRashidLatif68 @JunaidkhanREAL #INDWvsPAKW
