President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the teaching profession as Pakistan joins the global community in marking World Teachers’ Day today. Both leaders emphasized the importance of empowering teachers, improving education systems, and ensuring that the noble profession continues to shape future generations with wisdom and dedication.

In his message, President Zardari said initiatives to strengthen teacher training institutions, integrate modern technology, improve working conditions, and uphold the dignity of teachers remain central to Pakistan’s vision for an inclusive and future-ready education system. He described teaching as a sacred calling that extends beyond classrooms, influencing lives, strengthening communities, and laying foundations for prosperous societies. The president paid rich tribute to educators and urged the nation to respect, support, and empower teachers so they can continue guiding children toward wisdom, progress, and excellence.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, said the government is focused on making Pakistan’s education system more effective and compatible with the needs of the modern era. He noted that global competition requires young generations to excel in science, technology, and innovation, which is only possible through high-quality teaching and modern educational reforms.

The prime minister also emphasized that dedicating a day to teachers provides an opportunity to acknowledge their services both in Pakistan and across the world. He paid deep tribute to teachers nationwide, recognizing their selfless service and immense contributions to shaping society.

Highlighting this year’s theme, “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession,” PM Sharif underlined the importance of harmony among teachers, schools, and education systems. He concluded by stressing that modern, effective teaching practices not only raise national capacity but also lead to better governance and policies for the country’s future.
