SHIKARPUR— In a tragic accident late Friday night, at least eight people, including five children, lost their lives and five others were critically injured when a mini-truck ran over individuals sleeping by the roadside in Shikarpur, Sindh.
According to details, the incident took place near Kundan Chourangi, where a mini-truck loaded with onions and potatoes went out of control after colliding with an electric pole. The truck then skidded off the road and ploughed into people sleeping on the roadside, resulting in the horrific fatalities.

Rescue officials confirmed that eight victims died on the spot, while five others sustained severe injuries. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police and rescue teams reached the site soon after the incident. Authorities have seized the vehicle, but the driver managed to flee from the scene.
Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the crash and are conducting raids to trace and arrest the absconding driver.
The tragic mishap has plunged the local community into mourning, with residents calling for stricter enforcement of road safety measures and action against reckless driving to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
