
Heavy rain hit Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Friday morning, making the Rawalpindi weather chilly and creating slush in low-lying areas. The showers began around 6:30am and continued until 11am with short gaps. By afternoon, the sun returned, but the evening remained cold.

The Met Office reported 23mm of rainfall in Saidpur, 12mm at Zero Point, and smaller amounts in Golra and Bokra. In Rawalpindi, Shamsabad received 16mm while Chaklala recorded 13mm. Other city areas, including Pirwadhai, Gawalmandi, and Katcheri, also reported significant showers.
Weather experts said a deep depression over the Arabian Sea had intensified into a cyclonic storm, moving west-northwest. A westerly wave is also affecting northern regions and will likely intensify by Saturday evening. As a result, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Met Office warned of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas, landslides in hilly regions, and damage to weak structures. It also alerted that windstorms and lightning could hit parts of Sindh, endangering electric poles, billboards, and solar panels. Authorities urged people to stay cautious during the wet spell.

The forecast added that flash floods may affect streams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi from October 4 to 6. Day and night temperatures are expected to fall sharply, while snowfall is likely in the upper mountains. Travelers were advised to monitor Rawalpindi weather updates and avoid vulnerable routes.
