Pakistan has strongly condemned what it called a “dastardly attack” by Israeli forces on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a large humanitarian mission carrying aid to Gaza. The flotilla, consisting of more than 40 civilian vessels, was transporting over 450 humanitarian workers, parliamentarians, and activists from 44 countries when it was intercepted. Reports confirmed that Israeli forces raided the boats, cut their communication lines, and jammed signals as they approached the besieged Palestinian territory.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the incident, calling for the immediate release of all those who were detained. In a statement on X, he said Pakistan prayed for the safety of the humanitarian workers who were “illegally apprehended.” the prime minister described the mission’s purpose as purely humanitarian, aimed at delivering food and medicine to civilians in Gaza who are suffering under the ongoing blockade.

“Their only crime was carrying aid for the hapless Palestinian people,” Shehbaz stated, condemning the actions as inhumane and unacceptable. He stressed that such brutality must end and that global efforts should focus on peace rather than violence. The prime minister urged the international community to take notice and ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches those in desperate need.
The interception of the flotilla has already drawn international criticism, with several countries denouncing Israel’s actions as a violation of international law. Pakistan joined this chorus by reaffirming its longstanding commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and highlighting that collective action is needed to protect civilians. Officials in Islamabad emphasized that suppressing humanitarian missions only worsens the crisis in Gaza.
