Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Centre in Samli, Murree on Wednesday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, she said the state-of-the-art facility is equipped with a Cardiac Catheterization Lab and modern medical technologies. She added cardiologists and support staff will be available at the centre round the clock to ensure uninterrupted care.
She noted this marks the first renovation and upgradation of the Syed Muhammad Hussain Government Samli Hospital since its establishment in 1930.
To facilitate patients traveling from Murree to Samli Hospital, the Chief Minister also announced the provision of three dedicated buses.
Outlining broader development plans for the region, she revealed that a 100-bed hospital would be established in Kotli Sattian and a 50-bed facility in Bhurban. She also highlighted the successful rollout of mobile health services, including “Clinic on Wheels” and “Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics,” which are now fully operational across Murree.
On the infrastructure front, she shared schools are being upgraded and the historic Mall Road is undergoing a major rehabilitation project, costing billions of rupees.
To boost tourism, she said a dedicated tourism force under Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has been established, aimed at promoting the local tourism industry.
The Chief Minister further said wildlife parks, including Bansra Gali Park, are being restored and a new biodiversity park will be established to preserve the region’s natural heritage.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to improving transportation, she announced the launch of a train service between Rawalpindi and Murree. She also pledged provision of fifteen new green buses to the city, offering free travel for senior citizens, women and persons with disability.
Separately, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif extended warm felicitations to the leadership and people of the People’s Republic of China on their 76th National Day.
In her message, the CM conveyed best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and his colleagues, saying the government and people of Punjab shared the joy of the anniversary celebrations of the brotherly nation. She said Pakistan and China were exemplary neighbours, trusted friends and valued partners, adding that their friendship was an undeniable reality, deeply rooted at both governmental and people-to-people levels.
CM Maryam Nawaz noted that Chinese cooperation had significantly contributed to the growth and stability of Pakistan’s economy, while also playing a remarkable role in promoting global human development and the vision of building a shared future.
Referring to her recent visit to China, she said the Punjab government had introduced a co-ablation machine for the treatment of cancer patients, a step that would help ensure speedy recovery of those undergoing treatment.

The CM directed the authorities concerned to ensure the best possible medical treatment facilities for the victims and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice. She said such heinous crimes would not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict legal action would be taken against the culprits.
