If you ever get tired of being known for who you know, you know, Taylor Swift will always know Selena Gomez.
Indeed, “The Life of a Showgirl” singer made her friendship with the Only Murders in the Building star even more known at her Sept. 27 nuptials toBenny Blanco, where she, as well as pal Ed Sheeran, gave a speech to toast the happy couple, multiple outlets reported. Selena and Benny’s special day included a very star-studded list of friends such as Only Murders costars Martin Short, Steve Martin, Paul Rudd and Ashley Park.
And while Taylor played a major role in Selena’s latest life milestone, the duo have supported each other through thick and thin since they became friends back in the late aughts, when Selena was dating Nick Jonas, while Taylor was dating Joe Jonas.
“Everything was cute, we were young,” Selena reflected during an Aug. 6 appearance on Therapuss. “She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet.” Selena shared that her friendship with Taylor has seen each of them through the throws of romance.
“At that age we became best friends-bonded over the breakup, as girls do,” Selena recalled. “And then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after, and here we are now 16 years later.” Fast-forward to Selena and Taylor not only taking on the world together, but with Selena happily married to the music producer and Taylor engaged to Travis Kelce. And of course, the Wizards of Waverly Place star is just as floored by Taylor’s happily ever after. As she wrote in an Instagram Story Aug. 27, “When bestie gets engaged.” For Taylor, she’d meet up with Selena every Tuesday for a glass of wine for the rest of her life. “I knew from when I met her I would always have her back,” Taylor told WSJ. Magazine in 2020. “In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don’t know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.”
