Anthropic unveils claude sonnet 4.5 AI breakthrough

Published on: September 30, 2025 10:41 PM

US-based startup Anthropic has unveiled its latest generative artificial intelligence model, Claude Sonnet 4.5, claiming it to be the most advanced tool in the world for computer programming. The launch marks a major milestone in the ongoing race between top AI developers, as the model introduces significant upgrades in coding capabilities, autonomous performance, and practical applications. With programming widely seen as a critical field for AI disruption and revenue growth, the release has already drawn widespread attention across the tech industry.

Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic has rapidly established itself as a key competitor in the global AI market. The company has positioned itself as a safer, more controlled alternative, while still pushing boundaries in innovation. Despite trailing OpenAI in terms of users and mainstream recognition, Anthropic has consistently ranked high in benchmarks related to AI coding, and its new model strengthens that reputation. Industry observers view this advancement as a strategic leap forward, especially as rivals like OpenAI’s GPT-5 continue to dominate headlines.

One of the most remarkable features of Claude Sonnet 4.5 is its ability to operate autonomously for 30 hours after being assigned a task. This represents a massive improvement compared to the company’s earlier flagship, Claude 4 Opus, which could only run for seven hours. During these long operations, the system evaluates its own work, corrects errors, and improves outcomes without direct human intervention. Such advancements highlight the growing potential of AI systems to handle complex, sustained problem-solving tasks independently.

The model has already been tested using the SWE-Bench Verified benchmark, developed by Princeton and Stanford researchers, where it secured the highest score ever recorded. This independent validation strengthens Anthropic’s claim of superiority in AI-driven programming. Furthermore, Claude Sonnet 4.5 is described as highly capable in developing AI agents that can make real-world decisions, even in situations for which they were not specifically trained. This ability points toward future applications in industries requiring autonomous, adaptive decision-making.

In addition to coding supremacy, the new model expands practical assistant capabilities for everyday users. It can now perform actions on a computer much like a human, including tasks such as updating a calendar or conducting internet searches on command. These features were first introduced by Anthropic in 2024 and now arrive in a far more advanced form. While OpenAI launched a similar product, Operator, in January 2025, Anthropic’s latest release signals its determination to maintain leadership in AI systems that blend professional power with user-friendly functions.

With this launch, Anthropic has reignited competition at the highest level of AI innovation, placing fresh pressure on OpenAI and other rivals to respond. As AI tools rapidly reshape industries and everyday life, Claude Sonnet 4.5’s debut underscores how quickly the frontier of technology is moving and how aggressively companies are striving for dominance in this transformative field.
