Maryam Nawaz blasts political rivals over flood crisis in Punjab

Published on: September 30, 2025 4:20 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has accused other provinces of using Punjab’s recent floods for political purposes. Speaking at a scholarship and laptop distribution ceremony in Chakwal, she said the province faced one of its worst flood disasters. Three rivers flooded, causing large-scale damage across Punjab. However, instead of showing unity, other provinces criticized Punjab’s handling of the crisis. Maryam expressed deep disappointment over the political point-scoring during a humanitarian emergency.

She emphasized that all Punjab ministers remained present with flood victims throughout the disaster. They visited affected areas and offered help on the ground. Maryam praised their dedication during this difficult time. She said people should know that the leadership stood by the public. According to her, real leadership means staying connected with citizens during times of crisis.

Maryam also criticized politicians who only work from air-conditioned offices and luxury cars. She said true public servants do not hide behind comfort. Instead, they should walk the streets and meet people facing hardship. This, she said, is the only way to understand real problems. Maryam urged all politicians to leave their offices and serve the people directly.

In her speech, she encouraged the public to demand their basic rights. These include roads, laptops, and access to free medicines. If people are denied these services, they should hold their rulers accountable. She said no one should stay silent when their needs are ignored. Citizens, especially youth, have the power to ask tough questions.

Finally, Maryam Nawaz called for unity and responsibility during national disasters. She said politicizing human suffering only divides the country. Leaders should focus on helping victims, not blaming each other. With floods affecting thousands, she urged quick action and compassion. Her message was clear: help the people, and stop playing politics.
