Toshakhana 2.0: IHC to hear Imran, wife’s acquittal pleas on Oct 7

Published on: September 26, 2025 9:08 AM

In an important development in the Toshakhana-II case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday fixed for hearing the acquittal petitions filed by the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi on October 7.

Justice Inam Amin Minhas will hear the petitions. It is pertinent to mention here that both Imran and Bushra have also filed petitions in the court, seeking a halt to a trial in the Toshakhana-II case.

On the other hand, the hearing of the Toshakhana-II case will be held at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi today. Special Judge Central Shah Rukh Arjumand will hear the case.

On Tuesday, the Toshakhana-II case against the PTI founder and his wife reached a decisive stage, with the prosecution completing testimonies of its last two witnesses at Adiala Jail.

So far, 20 witnesses have testified, and cross-examination has been completed on 18.

The case pertains to Imran and Bushra retaining an expensive Bulgari jewellery set gifted by the Saudi royal family, including a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings – at a low price, causing significant loss to the national exchequer.

Separately, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday permitted two lawyers to meet Imran in connection with the GHQ attack case.

The decision was announced by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who approved the request filed by lawyers Faisal Malik and Hasnain Sunbal seeking permission to consult their client.

The court directed that the meeting take place the same day at Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently incarcerated. The judge emphasized that consultation between lawyers and their client in the GHQ attack case is a constitutional and legal requirement.

The Adiala Jail superintendent has been ordered to facilitate the meeting and submit a compliance report to the court by Friday.
