140,071 candidates registered for MDCAT 2025 nationwide

Published on: September 19, 2025 6:34 PM

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) confirmed on Thursday that registration for MDCAT 2025 has been completed, with a total of 140,071 candidates set to take the nationwide medical entry test on October 26. The exam date was rescheduled from October 5 to ensure that students from flood-affected areas could participate without difficulty, reflecting PMDC’s efforts to maintain inclusivity and fairness for all applicants.

Punjab recorded the highest number of registrations, with 50,443 candidates, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa followed closely with 39,964 applicants. Sindh reported 33,160 registered students, and Balochistan had 10,278 candidates preparing for the test. Moreover, 1,146 students from Islamabad, 3,322 from Azad Kashmir, and 1,564 from Gilgit-Baltistan have also completed their registration, indicating the broad participation from across the country.

In addition to domestic applicants, 194 candidates based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will also sit for the MDCAT exam this year. This inclusion demonstrates PMDC’s commitment to facilitating overseas Pakistanis seeking admission to medical and dental colleges. The council highlighted that all provincial universities will conduct the examination under a uniform framework to ensure consistency and transparency throughout the process.

PMDC stated that the syllabus and question bank for the exam have been prepared centrally to maintain fairness and avoid regional discrepancies. Strict instructions have been issued to all participating universities to prevent malpractice, paper leaks, or cheating attempts. These steps are aimed at upholding the credibility and integrity of the MDCAT process.

The council also urged candidates to rely solely on official updates and instructions issued by PMDC and their respective universities. Students have been cautioned against believing rumours or misinformation about the exam process, as adherence to verified guidelines will ensure a smooth and fair testing experience for all registered candidates.
